The Robert Smithson Record Collection
The Robert Smithson Record Collection is a work in progress, MP3 unlimited edition artwork.

The process of collecting these recordings (in record collecting terms 'digging') will allow for my own open ended search for forgotten/uncharted musical artifacts while attempting to mirror Smithson's preoccupation with entropic processes.

A slight shift occurs when a dusty milk crate is thumbed through, and a lost soul rediscovered, a rock overturned so to speak.  I consider this a constructive repetition, where the collection can be shared, duplicated and displaced again.

Great project! But why an edition of 3?

I have the Nico thingies, I think. And probably the LaMonte Young. Reading the list brings back many memories. We used the Van Dyke Parkes Song Cycle as the sound track to an installation that we (General Idea) presented in our living room, circa 1969.
